Discovery of the week:
well ... these Journal updates have hardly been weekly by any stretch of the imagination ... but hey ... quality not quantity right?
The 20th aniversary of the Chernobyl disaster has just passed ... and BBC news put together an in depth look at Chernobyl: 20 Years On. As a part of this they sent a photographer to take some photographs of what the area looks like now ... the photos show whole abandoned towns, houses left untouched in 20 years, nature taking over streets, buildings, vehicles, everything.
If you have the time take a look at all the sections under "In Pictures" yourself ... but if you're short for time I'd particularly recommend "Lost city in pictures", "Contaminated vehicles" and "Ghost villages" ... in that order.
